Grant and Sophie were two productive members of society. Grant a handsome military sailor, and Sophie a psychologist. With Good Behavior proves that even the most well-rounded individual can have a lapse in judgment and end up in jail. Grant and Sophie fall hard, but soon learn getting out of jail is just the beginning of their problems. They both have a past that comes creeping back to haunt them.
Jennifer Lane has created a wonderful contemporary romance. With Good Behavior has an original plot, which is full of mystery and romance forcing readers to become completely sucked into the story. Grant and Sophie have more in common then either of them realizes. This "link" hangs over readers heads throughout the entire book. This mystery kept me wondering what was going to happen when they realized they shared more then just a prison sentence. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters Jennifer Lane has created; she makes sure readers know her characters inside and outside, by cleverly introducing each ones back-story by mixing it into the plot. A well rounded character can bring out emotions in you, as if you were feeling something for a close friend, and I felt that connection with all the characters in this novel. I found myself sympathizing with Grant the most out of any character, despite being a convict Grant is a great guy. Grant has had an incredibly hard life, and throughout the book he is just trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately for Grant the right thing has serious consequences.
This entire novel is well written and I love how everything ties together so perfectly. This shows me the story was well thought-out. The only downfall I would have to say is the novel is incredibly long for me. I am a 200 to 300 pages kind of girl, and normally my A.D.D kicks in before I hit 300. This novel is over 400 pages so it is not just a quick read. Be prepared to dedicate some time to this novel. I also thought the beginning started off a little slow. The slow start did not discourage me from reading because I was getting to know all the character, but it did have me craving more action. I would only recommend this novel for adult readers; it contains a lot sexual content not suitable for younger readers.

I enjoyed your thorough review of the book and got a kick out of your warning about how long it is. I confess that longer books attract me because I read very fast. I'll be looking for that mystery that hangs over them both and doesn't resolve until the end- very intrigued now!
ReplyDeleteThank for the posting and for the giveaway opportunity. If I were to win, I would like 'Bad Behavior' bk 2

This is a great review hon. I totally agree, I am more of a 200-300 page kind of person. I like long books, but I also like rushing to get on to the next book on my ever growing wishlist. So finding long ones tends to slow down the process LOL! But this sounds like a great read, I don't read a lot of contemporary books, but I do enjoy them. Can't help that werewolves attract me more LOL! Great review hon and thank you for the awesome giveaway. I would like With Good Behavior to start things off from the beginning :) Thanks again.

Danielle, what a well-written review! I loved what you had to say about the hero: "Grant is a great guy. Grant has had an incredibly hard life, and throughout the book he is just trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately for Grant the right thing has serious consequences."
ReplyDeleteIt's good to take responsibility for one's actions but I think Grant is way too hard on himself--likely a consequence of the abuse.
You'll be happy to know that Bad Behavior is more along the lines of 300 pages if you decide to keep reading. I had a bit of verbal diarrhea at the beginning of my writing career but I'm trying to pare it down as I continue! This book was a frightening 500 pages before my editor and I attacked it with a hacksaw.
Thanks so much for participating on the blog tour and for your thoughtful review. Happy reading!
Thank you for participating!
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with longer books as long as I'm vested in the characters. I'm very interested in reading this one. Thanks for the review :)
ReplyDelete@jenniferLane Thank you very much :) I appreciate it. I will def. be reading the next one as well I have it mark on my list.
ReplyDeleteGreat review. It has to be really wort it to read one book that is over 400 pages, but I think this one will be.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog.
