  1. 1) I want to hear your thoughts on each character, I myself have fallen in love with most of them for different reasons.
~Hawkins- I being a fan girl am in love with him. He is mysterious and I picture handsome. Really I envision all the leading guys in bands I am in love with so win win for me.
~Lizzie-I hate her and like her at the same time. Her decisions are horrible, she is a brat, and needs entirely to much attention, but I still like her.
~Riley-He is awesome I love his wittiness and the humor he brings to the table in this story.
~Joie- She is great, I love how head strong she is with her rules, and always trying to handle herself classy, but yet she is not "perfection" making it easy for me to relate to her.

    2) What do you think about the friendship between Joie and Lizzie?
I feel like I have had friends like this in my past, your friends but you seem to butt heads. Seems like Lizzie uses Joie a lot, and really she talks down to her a lot to.

    3) When Hawkins tells Joie that they are not safe around the band what do you think he was implying? Do you Lizzie might be in danger? AAHHH!!! I cannot wait to find out what he is talking about. I spent my entire time reading this weeks chapters thinking "omg shes gonna end up in a a ditch!!"

  2. 1)I love Joie, she is a refreshing character and seems like she is comfortable in her own skin. She has her own charms and I loved seeing a couple of the characters take notice. The sparring between her and Hawkins is very entertaining and I can sense there being some sexual frustration and mutual attraction underneath. The chemistry that I sense has me hooked. Hawkins seems sort of mysterious and I'm anxious to get to know him more and see what he is about. More elevator scenes please :) and I thoroughly enjoyed his song "Love in an elevator" LOL Lizzie is pulling me into the direction of very strong dislike. She is very selfish and is seeking too much attention. I love Riley, he really rounds out these character's and is a breath of fresh air. He is a good friend, sadly he play's for the other team and I feel Joie's frustration :)

2)I feel like Joie is a better friend to Lizzie than Lizzie is to her, it's almost like a one sided friendship. Joie is looking out for Lizzie and Lizzie is only concerned for herself. I think Riley is a way better friend and Lizzie may find herself in trouble if she doesn't start being careful of the situations she put's herself in.

    3) I have no idea what that means but I am oh so curious. As soon as Hawkins said that I immediately perked up. My head is swimming around with so many different scenerios. Is the band doing some dirty work on the side? I'm anxious to find out what that warning means

  4. First I have to say that I am so totally in love with this book!!!! I must confess that I have read 1/2 of it just because I could not stop. Okay, on with the questions...

    1)
Hawkins - LOVE him! He sounds steamy, hot, talented and someone who has a head on his shoulders. He may sound arrogant, but I don't think he is as at. He also seems much deeper than the "sex, drugs and rock n roll" persona.

Lizzie - Rarely do I use the word "hate", but I hate this girl. I really and truly do. She is completely self-absorbed, cares only about getting what she can get not matter who it hurts. Nope, no love for this character.

Riley - I love Riley! He seems to be the perfect friend - very supportive, sweet, intelligent and just an all-around awesome guy. I also think he sounds hot (even though he isn't into women, lol) and just sounds plain adorable!

Joie - Joie is perfect. The chemistry that she and Hawkins shares is phenomenal, she is level-headed and strong, intelligent and doesn't have that "omg, you are famous, take me now just because" attitude that Lizzie has. She is mature, down to earth and has her demons that she fights, but still remains strong. She is excellent and a character that many can easily relate to.

    2) The relationship/friendship between Joie and Lizzie is one that is rather shallow, in my opinion. Lizzie is out for whatever gets her what she wants. She has no qualms about tossing Joie under the bus, so to speak and she is incredibly immature. The girls' parents are friends, thereby giving that friend connection and Joie is very loyal to Lizzie and is like a parent watching out for her. That is actually how I see them - Joie the parent and Lizzie the unruly spoiled brat child.

    3) Okay, so I know what this was actually about since I read further on. However, I will say what I thought at that moment. First of all, I loved the elevator scene as well. It was steamy and had that "oh oh!" pull to it. When I read his warning, I thought perhaps it had to do with fans wanting to hurt Joie/Lizzie for the rude comments that she was writing about him. That perhaps she would find herself in a situation where some mad fans would do the death threat thing because she was dissing Hawkins. The only danger that I think Lizzie is in is herself.

  5. TRUE THAT!!!! I want to strangle Lizzie! I had a hard time stopping! I even thought about getting next weeks reading done early.@April

  6. I don't usually read Contemporary Romance, but I am glad I am reading this. I am having a hard time putting it down. I am impatient;y waiting for more. I posted my answers here:
    http://offbeatvagabond.blogspot.com/2012/02/bookwhore-book-club-week-1-foolish.html

But I will post the answers here as well :)

    1. Your thoughts on each character:

~Hawkins: I love Hawkins. He cracks me up. He is definitely mysterious and I think the reason he teases Joie so much is because she sees right through him. I can't wait to see where all this goes. I see some major book boyfriend potential coming on here. YAY!

~Lizzie: Um...yeah. Not a fan. This is the sort of girl that will stab you in the back if you are the center of attention. Her head is way too far up her own ass. I really don;t see how Joie and Riley put up with her. So far, I haven't seen any friend-like qualities at all.

~Riley: Oh I am definitely a Riley fan. He is hilarious and a great friend. I see why him and Joie are such good friends. He has her back. It also doesn't hurt that he is hot.

~Joie: I love Joie. She is a girl that will be who she is no matter. I like that she isn't someone like Lizzie that will do anything to get noticed. She is witty and I like that she doesn't take Hawkins crap. Definitely an interesting match.

    2. What do you think about the friendship between Joie and Lizzie?

As I said before, I am not sure this is a "friendship" per se. They know each other well and hang out, but Lizzie really rubs me the wrong way. I don't trust her. At the end of chapter 3, we start to see some jealously coming from Lizzie. Hawkins is clearly showing some signs towards Joie and is getting the attention. This happens after Lizzie declares she wants him even though she is banging the drummer. I say, Joie run as fast as you can! Lizzie is trouble.

    3. When Hawkins tells Joie that they are not safe around the band what do you think he was implying? Do you think Lizzie might be in danger?

I think there is something with the other guys in his band or the other band that Kosic manages. I definitely think Lizzie will get herself in trouble because all she sees is hot, rich and famous. I don't like Kosic, after the drinking incident, I found that so odd. And I know Joie did as well because she brought it up. I thought Kosic was nice at first, but now, I am very suspicious.

  7. @DBookWhore I honestly can't find anything to like about Lizzie. She is fun, I will give her that, but that doesn't outweigh everything else about her :( I agree, she brings Joie down a lot and I too feel like she uses Joie a lot. I agree, Joie is definitely easy to relate to. I love her. LMAO! I thought the same thing I can't wait to see what the danger is and I do hope a ditch isn't involved *shivers*

    ReplyDelete
  8. @Jolene and Family You hit it on the head. I loved the elevator scenes. Aerosmith would be very proud LMAO! I agree, Riley is the icing on the cake, he pulls everything together very well. Question 3 is killing me as well. When I read that part, I went ooooh to holy shit LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  9. @April LMAO! It is hard to put down, isn't it? I forced myself to stop at the end of chapter 3, but I know I will be reading more later tonight. I can't get it out of my head LOL! So true about Hawkins, that is why I like him. They keep saying he is arrogant, but I think he just knows what is bs and what's not. Thank you! Lizzie is no good. I can't shake the feeling she will get herself and those around in some deep shit. Worst friend ever! I didn't even think about that. What if the danger Joie is in is because of the things she said about Hawkins? I know people go crazy for their idols, but I don't think that is the case, but that is interesting. Definitely takes me back to the bookstore scene.

  10. I like how she is a smartass but that is it. She makes me angry bt when she banters it makes me laugh so I enjoy that about her. @Diana (@Offbeat Vagabond)

  12. This is just one of those books that you really need to force yourself to put down. I will admit, I went a couple more chapters in, till I walked away. Though I am not sure how much longer I can hold out :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. @DBookWhore True, but I just can't bring myself to like her. Just too selfish for me :(

  14. Seriously O already had thoughts of ore doing all the discussion post for the month so I could keep reading! It was hard to stop.@Jolene and Family

  15. @DBookWhore Oh absolutely. I need a good muse for him though. Darnit, I should have looked for pictures. I will come up with someone, don't you worry LOL!

  16. @DBookWhore @Jolene and Family Forget that. I can't wait that long, I really can't. I am too engrossed in this story. Definitely going to read more tonight LOL!

  17. @DBookWhore Oh you bet I will. Already have someone in mind :D

  18. @DBookWhore Wait a minute, I can't remember. Does Hawkins have blonde or dark hair? I can't remember. All I remember are his eyes LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think it said dark hair I'll go back & check.@Diana (@Offbeat Vagabond)

  20. I'm gonna assume by the Named Dean comparison he has dark hair ot atleast ghats what I pictured.@Diana (@Offbeat Vagabond)

  21. @DBookWhore Oh okay. I thought so. I just couldn't get blonde out of my head LOL! Ok, I am getting more inspiration. At first, I imagined Travis Fimmel, but now I will revise. Fimmel is gorgeous though LOL!

  24. 1) I want to hear your thoughts on each character, I myself have fallen in love with most of them for different reasons.

~Hawkins- At first I wanted to not like this guy. He just seemed to me like he was in it for the "sex, Drugs & rock & roll" part of being a musician. But after reading along the character started to seem more down to earth.

~Lizzie- This chick is starting to annoy me! all she wants is an easy life and to find a way to get it. In this case it is to try and sleep with the band and hopefully get pregnant and pop off babies to live the life that she wants. she is what they were thinking about when someone said "your enemies will stab you in the back, but your friends will stab you in the front". don't trust this girl, she's gonna cause trouble for the "gang"

~Riley- Now this guy cracks me up! thats all I have to say about him.

~Joie-she seems good and all but, i didn't like the fact that she didnt like Hawkins at first she didnt give him a chance. she just assumed that he was your typical "rock star".

    2) What do you think about the friendship between Joie and Lizzie? It seems to me that Lizzie is a leach. she is just using joie to get what she wants. But Joie is just to nice of a person to give up on her friendship with lizzie. she probably wants to change her or try to at least.

    3) When Hawkins tells Joie that they are not safe around the band what do you think he was implying? Do you Lizzie might be in danger? This I'm not sure about. guess we will have to read on to find out!

One added thing: the part in the book where Hawkins begins to sing "love in an elevator" reminded me of the scene in "Reality Bites" (remember that movie?) when Ethan Hawke's (whoa! Hawkes = Hawkins) character sings "Add it up" by the Violent Femmes to Winona Ryder's character. just a thought.

  25. @phrankiebee LMAO! I love your added response. I didn't even think of that. Good call. Your quote about Lizzie is spot on. Love it! I don't agree with that about Joie though. Hawkins did sort of come off like a jerk in the beginning. But I agree, after that, she should have given him a chance. But I love the push and pull they have going on now, it is fun to read LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  26. 1) I want to hear your thoughts on each character, I myself have fallen in love with most of them for different reasons.
~Hawkins- I was totally with Joie in thinking that this guy was a total jerk however, he seems to be growing on me. Plus I'm loving the chemistry that I see growing between Joie and him.
~Lizzie- WOW!I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be able to handle this girl for 5 minutes let alone my entire life. Seems as if Joie and Lizzie became friends only because their mom's were friends and they grew up "together". I'm really hoping that somewhere down the line one of two things will happen. Lizzie will do something to prove that she isn't as horrible as she says or Joie will lay into her and really let her have it for being such a... you know!
~Riley- LOVE him! He is such a great character and I really hope he finds something more fun to do soon.
~Joie- I'm loving Joie, she is fierce! I love her snarky comments and how she stands up for herself and Lizzie (even though she doesn't deserve it) Reminds me of how I could talk about my brother when we were kids but nobody else better even think about it!

    2) What do you think about the friendship between Joie and Lizzie?
I've kind of already talked a lot about how I feel about the two of them above and no one wants top read all that again:)

    3) When Hawkins tells Joie that they are not safe around the band what do you think he was implying?
Do you Lizzie might be in danger?
I honestly have no clue what he could be talking about. I wondered at first if maybe that was just one way for him to try and keep Joie away. It did cross my mind that maybe Hawkins was trying to give some kind of obscure warning about Warren. Can't wait to see where this part of the story is heading.

I have to say I am really enjoying this book so far! I really really don't want to put it down!!!

  27. 1) I want to hear your thoughts on each character, I myself have fallen in love with most of them for different reasons.
~Hawkins- He just seems like he wants some time to himself. I think him and Joie have some chemistry.
~Lizzie-I like Lizzie. She reminds me a lot of my BFF. She has always been the partier and wild one.
~Riley-I love that he’s gay. I think it adds to the mix. He’s the perfect balance to Lizzie and Joie.
~Joie-She is awesome. She has snappy come backs and she gets fired up. Hawkins gets under her skin and pushes all the right buttons.

    2) What do you think about the friendship between Joie and Lizzie?
The relationship reminds me a lot of me and my BFF. They are so different but love each other anyway. I think they complete each other. One helps the other live a little and the other helps the other not jump head first in whatever she has found herself wanting to do.

    3) When Hawkins tells Joie that they are not safe around the band what do you think he was implying? Do you Lizzie might be in danger?
I think he knows something is about to go down and doesn’t want anyone extra in the mix. I think if she doesn’t stay away she might get caught in something she didn’t see coming.

  30. Okay, FINALLY I get to post!

Joie: I like her. I think she has abandonment issues, so I'm leary of Hawkins for that reason. I don't want Joie to fall for him because hes fulfilling a daddy role in her heart. She is witty, smart, and loyal - everything a friend should be. Which brings me to...
Lizzie: what a spoiled, self-centered bitch. Shes a bad friend, which answers question #2. I'm afraid that Joie and others.will get hurt trying raise Lizzie. She would be the big breasted.girl who runs stupidly up the stairs to her death in a scary movie and get killed. So roll on the masked killer. Good riddance!

Riley: I must be the only person who thought Riley as a gay guy was cliche. Hes funny as hell, but I actually think he could've been better if he was not. I think it cheapens his fan love for the Grimm Brothers and sort of suggests that, as young women living freely, their male friend MUST be gay. I would've written him differently, but that's just my.opinion.
Hawkins: somewhere in this journey Hawkins became delicious. And when he sang Love In an Elevator, my feelings went iver the edge. Anyone ever seen Gunner Stahl from the Mighty Ducks? He is the same guy (or looks a hell of a lot like the guy) from School of Rock who plays in the battle.of the.bands. that's my Hawkins. Idk why, but that's how I saw him.

3)I seriously suspect that something is going.on with Hawkins himself and that is why he pushed Joie away from the beginning.

Its okay if hes a nocturnal women slaughtering psychopathic every third full moon...I'm totally STALKING HAWKINS.

    1. Okay, his name is Scott Whyte, and that's just as close as I can get to the Hawkins in my head, though he is not the same guy that was in School of Rock. I think I'm still harboring a teenage crush on Gunner Stable - its resurfacing! Lol

  31. I think Riley being gay rounded out the crew, he is one of my favorite characters in the book. I have this feeling that something is going to happen to Lizzie and it is going to be humbling. Let's face it I think that is what she needs, to be humbled. Honestly even if Hawkins isn't anything paranormal (and I don't think he is) I still would want to be stalking Hawkins haha @Tiffany Memolo

  34. Foolish Games Week 1!

    1)       ~Hawkins- he is mysterious in a way I want to get to know. Does that make sense? I know he's a "bad guy" type - but why does that make him a tad bit more intriguing?
~Lizzie- annoying! Like you Said, she reminds you of friends. I've had friends like this. You almost feel it is your duty to keep them "in line" & keep an eye on them. You love them despite the fact they push your buttons. So far, it seems she is self-absorbed. But not in a mean way, really. She seems oblivious to that.
~Riley- reminds me of a dear friend of mine!! I'm curious as to where they go with this character. Looking forward to more of him.
~Joie- I really like her. I love her "rules" & how we are introduced to her. I'm actually looking forward to learning more about her and going on this journey with her! :) I am curious as to if she will break any of these "rules" she goes by so strongly! ;)

    2) What do you think about the friendship between Joie and Lizzie?

I have had friendships like this. You change as you get older & you realize how different you are - but you can't imagine your life without this person. I'm wondering if they will still be as close as we learn more about them.

    3) When Hawkins tells Joie that they are not safe around the band what do you think he was implying? Do you Lizzie might be in danger?

I actually thought, "Run!" but I thought it may be the band falling apart-type of thing. I'm dying to know what he meant!!??
