Guest Post: Missy Jane

Blush sensuality level: This is a sensual romance (may have explicit love scenes, but not erotic in frequency or type).

Book three in the Love Beyond Barriers series.
A few months ago I finally moved on with my life and got away from my abusive ex-boyfriend. That should be a good thing, right? But now I’m living with Hunky Hank, my ex’s former friend turned my Knight in Shining Armor. He’s great at everything and treats me like a queen. Unfortunately that makes me feel needy when I’m trying to be more independent. When I need to be more independent. So when I started getting vibes of another woman, I knew it was time to move out and move on. So much easier said than done. It’s not so easy to leave behind the temptation of the most perfect guy I’ve ever known. He’s the only one who looks at me and instead of seeing a shattered image, he sees someone who is too hard to break.
 Meet The Author

Whenever a new set of characters pops into my head I run with it and create the story they fit into at the time. Every now and then other characters within that same world will draw my attention and I know they deserve a story of their own. As a reader, I enjoy sequels and series because I like to know everyone can have a happy ending. However, as an author I’m not always successful in doing that for my own characters.
One thing I struggle with is keeping the story fresh and interesting. If the secondary characters have already revealed a lot about themselves, how do I give them their own entire book full of more information? Sometimes I really have to work to create a whole new story for them that will still engage the reader. Basically if it doesn’t interest me I’ll assume it won’t interest my reader. I can be my own worst critic sometimes.
My newest release, Too Hard to Break, is the third book in my Love Beyond Barriers series. The series started with Two-Week Trial, followed by Two Dates Max. There is also one more book planned in the series so far. Of all of them, Too Hard to Break was the easiest to write. It’s the story of Elle and Hank who were introduced in Two Dates Max. I fell in love with Hank almost immediately and knew Elle definitely deserved some closure. I just hope I did a satisfactory job in the telling.
Though it was the easiest on execution, meaning it came to me quickly, it was also the hardest to pen emotionally. Elle is the victim of physical, emotional, and verbal abuse.  She had a lot of growing to do as well and I was very happy with the way her story turned out. But I will admit writing a couple of scenes was a bit tough, though I didn’t write anything very graphic. That’s not what this story’s main focus is so I was careful of the details.
Like my others it is a sensual romance. It’s published under Ellora’s Caves’ Blush line because there aren’t as many sex scenes as the usual. However, there is still some sex and a very romantic thread. If you haven’t read the other two books in the series I encourage you to do so, but it isn’t necessary to read this one.

  1. It sounds like she has really grown these characters with each book. I love when an author does that!

    Great guest post!
