Book Wh*re Online Book Club Week 2

Chapters 6-11

1) What do you think about Jake and the instant chemistry he and Emma share?

2) If you could be a hunter of any supernatural creature what would you chose to hunt and why?

3)What are your thoughts about Emma and Jake both changing on the same day, same hour, almost the same way? What sort of connection do you think is between them? Do you think one created the other (Jake's change was the catalyst for Emma's or vice versa)?

4) Who do you think Gabriel was? Do you agree with Emma that he could have been an angel? What do you think about Gabriel's belief that it was his duty to help Emma?

I asked Lynn if she could share a little bit of where she pulled the inspiration for the tattoos and she shared this site with me. I wanted to pass it along because I was so intrigued and find out what you all thought.

) I think it only adds to the mystery. I love the idea that there is something that is bringing them together in all ways… Great set of chapters!!

    2) Oooh!! That’s a tough question!! I think I’d hunt…. ghosts… No! Wait! I think I’d hunt trolls. I like vampires so there is a part of me that doesn’t want to actually hunt them. Wait!! I got it!! Zombies!! I would like to hunt down zombies.

3)I think Emma’s change started Jake’s change. I’m probably completely wrong, but I think she’s something really special and is the catalyst for Jake’s transformation as well as something bigger.

    4) I think the name Gabriel could make him an angel, along with his abilities. It would make sense, but I’m not sure if I believe it yet. It might something else too. I’m still up in the air on that one and am loving the mystery unfold!

  2. 1) I love their chemistry and it seems pretty natural, not forced. There is a definite connection that neither one understands yet each feels without hesitation, heck I feel it for them as the reader. I like how Lynn has built this connection. I also love the hot/cold difference – she is the cold to his heat.

    2) Ok, I'm not a hunter so I have to say nothing if I am honest.

    3) It seems at that moment in time both needed to be created. Are they the same? Do they have the same purpose in different ways? Is one not able to exist without the other? These are the mysteries I am excited to find out since there are some similarities but we are finding more differences too. I am not sure that one created the other since it happened at the same time, it as if one couldn't be created without other. If Jake didn't happen, Emma wouldn't have either and vice versa.

    4) I like Emma's belief that he was an angel or maybe a guide to help her understand this new world she ended up in. She wasn't prepared for this, she didn't know vampires existed and yet here she is a hunter. I have a feeling Gabriel was a necessary piece of fate's puzzle to help Emma find her true calling.

Really enjoying this story ... it is hard to wait to read the next installment! :-)

  3. 1) I want to like the chemistry between them, but I am so getting tired of the insta-attraction that seems to be a common theme these days. For once it would be nice to have the hint of attraction and the slow build up of a relationship between two characters. The way it stands now is just not believable to me, and of the few relationships that I know which started this way, they ended in total destruction later on. However, I will say that it's nice that both characters have someone who is similar enough like them to result in a relationship.

    2) Hmmm tough call...my gutt reaction would be demons, but another part of me says zombies. Maybe zombie-demons? Oh, how about ghouls/ghosts? But on second thought, ghosts can be entertaining at times, so I'd hate to have to take one of them out only to find out they were the good guys. I'd have to limit my hunting to only evil spirits. Oh okay, I like Karice's response of zombies. I'd join up with her and hunt them no problem. Hello Double-Tap. :)

    3) I'll will admit that I found this part of the book intriguing, which is why I created a question around it. There's a part of me that feels like Emma was the catalyst for Jake's change, but there's another part that actually feels like Jake was the start of it all. His symbol means chaos and since Emma's tattoo is an arrow (if I'm not mistaken) which is similar to part of Jake's, it would only make sense that Jake unknowingly was the catalyst. It makes me wonder just how many other people were affected the way that Jake and Emma were. Could there be a Hunter for each arrow on Jake's tattoo? Could the death of Emma's parents have been the result of higher forces creating a hunter after a previous hunter had fallen? So many questions, so few answers at this moment. I can't wait to see where it all leads!

    4) I'd like to think that Gabriel was something special, though I wouldn't necessarily call him an angel. The fact that he was able to find all this information to help her and was quick to want to start training her tells me that he definitely knew something. Course, it could also be that he just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and was just a helpful/caring guy. That's the skeptical side of me talking there. lol

I'm loving this book so far and can't wait to read more! Also greatly enjoyed the link to all of the symbols that Lynn provided. I actually hadn't thought to look up the chaos symbol, so it's nice to have a visual idea of what it really is. I wonder if we will be seeing any of the other symbols from that list within the story. =^.^=

    1. Love it!! We will tackle them together!! I'm sure pairs and groups are the best to get rid of the zombies! And it would be way too difficult to for me to get rid of any sweet ghosts as well!!

  4. 1.) I love their chemistry I think they have something special going on between them.
2.) I would be a hunter of zombies just the thought of zombies scares me.
3.) I think it makes them connected in a way that bonds them its the kind of bond no one can break. No I don't think one created the other but I do think one was created to save the other from becoming something evil.
4.) I think Gabriel was infact a guardian angel. I think he was sent to protect her and guide her to help her become a guardian. I so love this book I cant wait to read more.

  5. Great comments you guys. Yeah, the "insta" love as I've heard it coined doesn't work for everyone. I, personally, LOVE it in the books I read--well--and write. LOL!

I love hearing you guys and your takes on the characters, This is awesome.

If I could be a Hunter of some type: Boy, I think I'd hunt VAMPS. I'd love to be as kick-ass as Emma. Sadly, I'm so NOT! Especially now as I heal from surgery still (six weeks later and I'm still gimping around -- GRRR)

    You guys ROCK!!
