Daunted by the singular sexual tastes and dark secrets of the beautiful, tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele has broken off their relationship to start a new career with a Seattle publishing house.
But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sensual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding Fifty Shades.
While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront the anger and envy of the women who came before her, and make the most important decision of her life.
I had to wait a whopping two days to read this book, and you would have thought I waited a lifetime. I stood by my door all day waiting for the UPS man to drop this book off. Once my packaged containing Fifty Shades Darker arrived I tore it open like I was five on Christmas day. I then spent the next 48 hours devouring every page. Something about this series has me completely addicted, and I can't exactly explain what it is.
This story picks up right where Fifty Shades of Grey leaves off, and I love that. I am a big stickler for, if you leave on a cliffhanger you better pick right back up on that cliffhanger. That is of course the reader in me not wanting to miss anything that has happened. This book has a lot more action and conflict then the first book and I loved it. You also get to learn a lot more about Christian, and his past, and his secrets. Christian's character develops tremendously, but the thing that keeps you flipping through the pages is wondering if he can stay this new man.
Ana is forced in this book to confront Christian's past face to face, and I was gaping with my mouth open in shock at the events that take place. This book captures such real emotion out of me. I would be cheering for Ana to leave on one page, and the next page I would be worried about Christian's poor heart. I am in love with Christian, I don't care how many shades of screwed up he is!
Ana and Christian are the type of couple you hate, they constantly fight, and then are instantly in love again. The constant fighting did get under my skin a bit, but the making up was so good I soon forgot how annoyed I was about the fighting. *wink wink*
